Fresher is Better

assorted easy to make smoothiesWith smoothie freezer packs you’ll enjoy the convenience of store-bought smoothies with fresh, whole ingredients you select.
Smoothies are perfect to enjoy in the mornings, but I’ve also found them to be a perfect addition to healthy lunches or an after-school snack. Most kids love a good fruity smoothie and they never notice when you add veggies to their smoothies too. It’s a great way to get some added veggies and nutrition into your child’s diet. This is also the perfect way to get your picky eater to drink up some greens.

Make it Ahead of Time

By preparing smoothie packs ahead of time, you can have healthy smoothies ready at your disposal whenever you need them. Once a week, I like to make a few smoothie freezer packs so that I have ready-made smoothies for the rest of the week.

Frozen smoothie ingredient packsYou put everything you would want in your smoothie into a freezer Ziploc bag, excluding the liquid base, which you add when you are going to make the smoothie. Fruits that work good in smoothies are strawberries, pineapple, peeled bananas, apples, grapes, peaches, blueberries, and mango. Just remember fruits with a thicker skin will require more blending. Spinach and kale are great additions to smoothies because these vegetables take on the flavor of the fruit they are blended with. Label your baggie with the fruits and veggies in it and then freeze. Many times, I will take overripe fruits and stick them into the freezer so that they can be added into a smoothie later on.

When you are ready to make a healthy smoothie take your baggie out of the freezer, put it into a blender and add a liquid of your choice (low sugar juices, coconut water, fat-free milk, etc.), blend well, serve and enjoy!
