September has been designated as National Food Safety Education Month by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). And, even though the United States has one of the safest food supplies in the world, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), this serves a good time to refresh our memories and renew our habits on the four basic principles of food safety.

Do you recall?

  1. Clean
  2. Separate (and don’t cross-contaminate)
  3. Cook
  4. Chill

We’ve provided a link with each of the safety basics above, so that you can revisit in-depth posts we recently wrote on each topic.
