Congratulations Master Gardeners.
Despite the Covid19 limitations, Taylor County Master Gardeners documented over 1,000 hours in 2021. This does not include the many hours not recorded that are just “good-doers” (quoted from the Oz). In return for training, Master Gardener Volunteers serve 75 volunteer hours for the first year. They assist extension agents in providing researched-based horticulture education to Florida residents.
Master Gardener Volunteers renew their certification by participating in 10 educational hours and completing 35 volunteer hours each year thereafter. Taylor County Volunteers are involved in many community services such as providing scholarships, The 4-H Weekend Back Program, School gardening, Annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway, Annual Plant Sale, Soil testing, Plant and Pest Identification, and much more. Furthermore, applications are being accepted for the upcoming Master Gardener 2022 class now. The deadline for application is January 14, 2022.
