Amber joins us after over a decade of career experience in food assistance programming, nutrition education, public health, health coaching, and weight management. She previously served as the Family Nutrition Program (FNP) manager in Sarasota County Extension, and, therefore, is familiar with the office and stakeholders. Amber holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition, is a Registered Dietitian and holds a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer credential.
Amber strives to build partnerships that make optimal health and well-being accessible, achievable, and sustainable at any age. She is passionate about empowering individuals and families by connecting them with science-based information, practical skills, and resources that support self-efficacy.
Keeping Sarasota County’s residents healthy, active, and safe is a core goal of the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) program at UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County. The FCS Agent position focuses on educating about best practices related to healthy eating, physical activity, food safety, home financial sustainability, and more. Maria Portelos-Rometo recently retired from the role after nearly 18 impactful years with Extension.
Since Amber took on this new role, she has met with staff and stakeholders to identify community needs and develop program priorities. She continues to work on her plan for which courses and programs to present to the community starting this fall. She is excited to continue contributing to Extension’s work and growing the program in new and exciting ways.
You can reach Amber with your health and wellness questions or to learn more about her program by email to adaniels@scgov.net or call 941-861-9804.
In her free time, Amber enjoys spending time with her family, mountain biking, cooking, writing, and learning.
We are happy to welcome Amber (back) to the Sarasota County Extension Team!
