In our “Let’s Keep Moving!” series, we’re looking at different types of physical activities and how they can benefit our health. Today, we take a look at flexibility.
You should include flexibility exercises in your daily routine. Staying flexible and limber will give you the freedom of movement you need for daily activities, even for things as seemingly basic as getting dressed and reaching objects on a shelf. Greater flexibility also can allow you to expand your range of activities..
To increase your flexibility, try:
- Shoulder and upper arm stretch
- Calf stretch
- Yoga
- Swimming (bonus: this also will increase endurance and strength)
In our next (and final) post in this series, we will wrap up with a look back at the types of activities, as well as a discussion of other key points.
