Canning Under the Cottage Law
Did you know certain foods can be prepared in a home kitchen and sold direct to consumer without needing a certified kitchen?
Learn more about how to produce cottage foods, such as jams and jellies, during the Canning Under the Cottage Food Law class coming up November 9, 2018 at the UF/IFAS Extension Polk County office.
We’ll review what can and can not be sold under the cottage food law and provide additional info for those considering scenarios outside of the cottage food realm. See more about Cottage Food regulations at the FDACS website here. http://www.freshfromflorida.com/Business-Services/Food-Establishment-Inspections/Cottage-Foods
Been a While Since You’ve Canned?
We’ll demonstrate home preservation of foods using the water bath canning method. A majority of participants have canned at some point but are looking for updated food safety recommendations and a little confidence building hands on activity to get back up to speed.
Never Canned Before?
No problem! Rub elbows with others and go home with recipes and confidence to try it yourself!
