What’s an easy way to help our neighbors and address food insecurity? A friendly challenge of collecting jars of peanut butter for families in need.
Why Collect Peanut Butter?
Peanut butter is more than just good to eat. It’s also nutrient-dense and a good source of plant-based protein. It can be enjoyed as smooth, chunky, and even crunchy. Peanut butter is not only nutritious, but also versatile and satisfying with many ways to enjoy. So, whether you prefer eating a peanut butter sandwich or peanut butter on apple slices or crackers, don’t forget our families in need.
Where Can You Donate?
Bring your unopened and unexpired jars of peanut butter to the UF/IFAS Extension office located at 6700 Clark Road, Sarasota (in Twin Lakes Park). Better yet, if you are planning on attending the 17th Annual UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County Master Gardener Volunteer Plant Sale and EdFest this Saturday (Oct. 14), bring a jar with you and we’ll have a collection bin for you to drop off your jar or jars of peanut butter. The challenge runs through the end of October, if the plant sale isn’t on your to-do list.
Let’s come together as a community for the peanut butter challenge and share a jar of delicious, nutritious, versatile and satisfying peanut butter for those in need in our community.
