Many people might think it can’t or won’t happen here. But, since 2000, an average of 71,300 wildfires burned an average of 6.9 million acres across the United States each year, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. And just since Jan. 1, 2020, nearly 2,000 wildfires have scorched more than 90,000 acres in Florida alone, per Florida Forest Service reports.
Join us 11-11:15 a.m. Aug. 06 to learn more about these damaging fires, and the steps being taken—including prescribed fires—to lessen their frequency, intensity and severity.
