4-H Day At The Capital 2024: Nassau County

“4-H Youth from Nassau County Engage in Civic Education at Capitol Event”

On February 6th, 2024, a group of enthusiastic 4-H members from Nassau County ventured to Tallahassee, Florida, to participate in the esteemed 4-H at the Capitol event. This statewide gathering provided an invaluable opportunity for the youth to immerse themselves in the intricacies of state governance while experiencing the political process firsthand.

Amidst their visit, the Nassau County contingent seized the chance to meet with Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, delving into discussions about his illustrious career in agriculture. Eager to learn about his endeavors to foster youth interest in the field, the 4-Hers posed insightful questions, gaining valuable insights into the intersection of agriculture and public service.

Following their enlightening conversation, the group embarked on a journey through the hallowed halls of the Capitol, where they beheld the inner workings of the state legislature. From the solemn chambers of the House and Senate to the captivating exhibits of the Capitol museum, the youth immersed themselves in a rich tapestry of civic education.
