Every year, the first full week in August marks National Farmer’s Market week. What a great time to check out the markets we have available here in Tampa Bay. Farmer’s markets are a great place to access affordable fresh foods as well as support our local economies. It’s also a great way to get to know your local farmers and get involved in the community.
While some foods are grown locally, many others are shipped in. If it’s important to you to purchase local, ask your vendors what they consider local and if they produced the food themselves. To get a good idea of what’s in season in Florida, you can always check out the Fresh From Florida site, which categorizes fresh produce seasonality by month.
