It is that time of year again. Everyone is purchasing their 2023 show animals. Do you have a system for how you will keep up with all of your receipts? Remember, part of your 4-H project animal record book is a profit/loss statement. How will you know if you do not keep track of your receipts?

It is never too early to decide how you will save or keep track of your expenses. There are many choices for how to keep up with your purchases. Here are some items to think about:

• Are you going to keep paper or digital copies of everything, including your record book? Some options are to take pictures of your receipts, scan or save receipts in a folder on your computer, or keep paper copies in a folder, a box, or on a clipboard.
• Be diligent and establish a routine of keeping everything in one spot.
• Decide how often you will sit down with your receipts and update your record book.

With a little organization and following a routine, you will find it easy to keep up with your purchases and record book.
