Preparing for the new 4-H year!

As August arrives, so does the return to school and the familiar 4-H routine. Are you prepared?

Be sure to mark your calendars for the mandatory Glades County Youth Livestock Meetings if you intend to participate in the GCYLS show in 2024.

  • Cattle Meeting (Steer, Commercial Heifer, Bull, and Dairy) – Scheduled for Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 6 pm, taking place at the Doyle Conner Building. Attendance is required for both exhibitors and parents. Open to youth aged 8-18 as of September 1, 2023.
  • Swine – Set for Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 6 pm, also hosted at the Doyle Conner Building. Attendance by both exhibitors and parents is mandatory. Youth aged 8-18 as of September 1, 2023, are eligible to attend.
  • Pee Wee (Little Rascals) – Slated for Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 6 pm, at the Doyle Conner Building. Both exhibitors and parents must be present. This meeting is for youth aged 5-7 as of September 1, 2023.
  • Rifle and Shotgun program – Scheduled for Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 6 pm, hosted at the Doyle Conner Building. The attendance of both exhibitors and parents is required. Open to youth aged 8-18 as of September 1, 2023.

Also, please remember to complete your registration on 4-H online at v2.4honline.com. Re-registration is necessary each year. Please do not create a new account. Instead, just reset your password, and remember Glades County 4-H will pay your membership fees; just mark pay by check.

In addition to signing up online and attending the mandatory meetings, take this opportunity to prepare your facilities. Now is the ideal time to make sure your barn or pen is well-prepared and equipped to ensure the safety and care of your animal project.
