EVENT: Preparing for your home food business

Nearly a decade ago, Florida passed the Cottage Food Law, allowing people to prepare certain types of foods in their unlicensed home kitchens for sale to the public. But if you’ve still got questions, we can bring you answers, in our Aug. 19 “Starting a Prepared Food Business at Home” webinar.

This free, online class will show you everything you need to know about which types of foods can and cannot be produced in a home kitchen. We’ll share with you the whys and hows of product labeling, where you can legally sell your food, the ins and outs of food safety, and delve into associated regulations. Register early to reserve your spot and receive notice of any changes.

Instructors:

  • Sarah Bostick, Sustainable Agriculture Extension Agent, UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County
  • Dr. Maria Portelos-Rometo, Food and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent III, UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County
