Ready for hurricane season? Get tax-free supplies now

We have officially entered the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs June 1 through Nov. 30. To help prepare, consumers can purchase qualifying supplies exempt from tax during the 2022 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday.

The sales tax holiday started May 28, and runs through June 10. It is a great time to pick up extra batteries, flashlights, fire extinguishers, and other storm-prep items. This year, that even includes pet supplies. Consumers and businesses can find more information—and promotional materials—at the Florida Department of Revenue website.

Don’t forget to pick up your free hurricane guide that can be found all around town including our extension office and our local libraries.
