About Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast
Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast partners with landowners, businesses, and government to conserve the environmental excellence of our lands and waters in Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee, and Collier Counties. The staff is mission-focused to “protect the land and water in Southwest Florida for the benefit of people and nature,” conserving those special places that shape our cultural heritage, make our region extraordinary, and our quality of life superb.
To date, through the efforts of residents, producers, officials and others who care about our lands, waters, and way of life, the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast has protected more than 18,877 acres across 51 properties. This adds up to nearly 30 square miles of protected land that provides for kids and grown-ups, wildlife and waterways.
As a green business partner, the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast is making a difference in our community. Starting with energy and water conservation efforts, the Foundation used a Partners for Green Places grant from the Barancik Foundation to have the most comprehensive energy and water report. The report highlighted opportunities for energy savings and water conservation initiatives. Many of these programs, ranging from new insulation to faucet aerators, have been implemented into the historical building.
The Conservation Foundation host numerous events, office parties, and weddings at their beautiful location on the intercoastal waterway. Because of their waterfront location, the staff had made efforts to eliminate the use of plastic water bottles events. As a green partner, the staff is committed to continue and expand these efforts to make their venue more sustainable.
