A lifetime of giving to local 4-H

UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County celebrates a lifetime of volunteer service to Sarasota County 4-H and selects Don and Marlene Strickland for Volunteers of the Month for August.

For 43 years, Don and Marlene Strickland have mentored 4-H youth as organizational leaders of the Sarasota 4-H club, ‘Ridin Rednecks’.

They have been involved in 4-H at the local, state and national levels, including guiding and judging youth at the Sarasota County and Florida State fairs, representing Florida at the National Livestock Symposium, and coaching a winning livestock judging team awarded a trip to the national competition.

Over the years, Don and Marlene have provided their expertise and insights, and helped youth achieve their goals and develop their leadership and citizenship skills.

Many of the youth that Don and Marlene guided are now this generations 4-H leaders.

UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County thanks Don and Marlene Strickland for a lifetime of service to Sarasota County 4-H.
