Community Gardens in Pasco County: Get Involved

What is the UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County community gardens program?

The UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County Community Gardens Program originated in the low income communities of Dade City. This program was created by the interdepartmental relationship of the University of Florida and the Pasco County Extension Office, run by the County Extension Director, Dr. Whitney Elmore and Community Gardens Program Manager, Chris Carreiro. The community gardens program aims to guide and develop community gardens to improve communities and sustainability.

What does the program offer?

The UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County community gardens program hosts gardening, cooking, and nutrition classes and provides the knowledge to anyone wanting to grow their own food. To do this, the Community Gardens Program offers free plots, education, and training. This helps to offset financial impacts by increasing the level of food literacy and production.
