Upcoming Weight Management Class

UF Extension will be teaching another class at the Advent Health Zephyrhills wellness center. It is a 12 week program called Towards Permanent Weight Management. We will meet for an hour for 12 Thursdays starting July 11th from 10am to 11am. This class will be more than learning what to eat to lose weight, but will focus on the behaviors and habits of eating. What are your eating cues? What will you do to manage a relapse in diet and fitness? How good are you at determining portion sizes when not using a measuring cup? What are ways to make snacking more nutrient-dense? These topics, and more, will be covered in the 12-week program. On week 1 and week 12, you will receive a health screening: blood pressure, blood sugar, height, weight, and BMI. This will also let you see how far you’ve come at the end of the 12 weeks.

Additionally, fitness will also be covered. Each week, learn new exercises from a different muscle group, flexibility exercises, stretches, and more.

Another important part of the class is keeping up with the food and fitness journals. You will want to keep track of everything you are eating and how often you are working out. This lets you know if you are making the healthy changes discussed each week, what your strengths and weaknesses are during your weight loss journey, and gives you a chance to discuss with the class how to overcome challenges. You will also keep track of your fitness, noting how often you are exercising, whether it’s as simple as walking or a structured fitness routine at a gym.
