4-H | FWC Hunter Safety Course

From the classroom to the range!
Nassau County 4-H is excited to announce a new partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Together, we’re helping youth interested in shooting sports and hunting build essential firearm safety and outdoor skills.

During the recent Hunter Safety Course, participants explored key topics such as Florida hunting laws, wildlife biology, firearm safety practices, hunting ethics, animal welfare, basic first aid, hunt planning, and animal and equipment identification. They also enjoyed hands-on range time with archery and shotgun instruction.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing FWC team and volunteers. A special thank-you goes to our partners at MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife—Mr. Michael, Officer John, Ms. Mary, and lead volunteers Mr. Matt and Mr. Tim for sharing their expertise and time.

From September 18–20, 2025, eight 4-H youth members successfully completed this comprehensive course, gaining the knowledge and confidence to enjoy the outdoors responsibly. FWC plans to return this summer to offer another class.
