2023 Nassau State Fair Fun!

Nassau county senior 4-H members Emma Nostrem and Garrett Bennett attended the Florida State Fair in Tampa, which was held in February. Emma and Garrett represented Nassau County and the 4-H program by competing in the goat and poultry shows as well as the skill-a-thons.

Emma, showing her senior Nubian goat “Sweet Pea”, placed first in her division and advanced to the final drive where they competed against all the top contenders from each of the Nubian classes. It was such a wonderful experience watching Emma display such poise and skill in the show ring. Congratulations to Emma for winning the Grand Champion Nubian Senior! She also received a white ribbon in the senior youth goat showmanship competition.

Garrett also participated in both the youth and open goat shows. In the Youth show he placed third in the junior AOP division with his goat “Ghirardelli” and fourth in the open show. In the Senior Nigerian class he placed tenth in the youth show and seventh in the open show with his dry doe “Nala”. He also received a red ribbon in the senior goat showmanship competition.

Garrett also competed in both the open and youth poultry shows. He earned a total of twelve Best of Breeds, nine Best of Varieties, one Medium Duck Champion, one Medium Duck Reserve Champion and two Medium Goose Champions. Garrett also won the Goose division earning two Champion Goose awards. Garrett also received a white ribbon in the senior youth poultry showmanship. He completed two posters and two record books earning a blue ribbon for each.

Congratulations to Emma and Garrett on their hard earned success! You make Nassau County proud.
