Nassau County 4-H just hosted another successful year of County Events! 4-H members of all ages competed in multiple competitions including public speaking, a talent show, cooking, sewing, and photography. Fifteen youth took the stage in front of a live audience to perform speeches and demonstrations on topics such as preparing animals for show, changing the shocks for your car, arranging flowers, and so much more. Parents and judges were blown away by each 4-H’er’s extensive knowledge of their topic. One youth even sewed her own apron to wear during her presentation!
Next up, five youth showed off their magical and musical talents as they performed in our Share-the-Fun event. These youth demonstrated that 4-H members have a variety of skills including playing the guitar and trumpet, singing, and performing magic.
During intermission, the crowd was able to sample the tasty treats prepared by almost twenty different youth in the chef-in-training event. These 4-H’ers cooked delicious dishes including banana bread, deviled eggs, lasagna, cakes, brownies, and everything in-between. Again, our judges were impressed by the skill-level of these young chefs.
Finally, more than ten youth were recognized for their photography skills. These 4-H’ers showed off their best shots of animals, landscapes, and other interesting subjects. Youth in both public speaking and photography qualified to move on to the next level of competition. Public speaking candidates will perform at a regional competition in Flagler County in April and photographs will be submitted to the state-level event. Nassau County 4-H is so proud of each youth that participated! Thank you to our judges and those who came out to support our members. Great job, everyone! We can’t wait for our 2019 competition!
