Why did the chicken cross I-95? To strut its stuff at the most egg-citing event of the year, of course! The Miami-Dade County Youth Fair and Expo, that is.
If you’ve ever fancied your feathered friend as the fairest of the flock, then you’re in cluck! Whether you are a seasoned 4-H member, or new to the party, participating in the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair and Expo (The Fair) is a staple of the year’s activities. This year, we are excited to share an opportunity for 4-H members interested in showcasing their feathered friends at The Fair, scheduled for March 14th – April 7th, 2024.
Youth agricultural exhibits play an important role in nurturing the next generation of agriculturists, hobby farmers, and community leaders!
- Hands-On Learning: Young exhibitors delve deep into livestock and small animal care and health.
- Skill Development: From time management to record keeping and responsibility, raising and presenting animals teaches essential life skills.
- Promoting Agricultural Heritage: Despite the urban sprawl of Miami, youth exhibitors serve as a reminder of the county’s rich agricultural roots and the continued significance of farming and livestock.

- Download the Youth Agricultural Exhibits Handbook (Instructions for Poultry Exhibits begin on page 29.)
- Attend the Youth Agriculture Exhibits Seminar on October 28th, 2023 (9:00 AM until 2:00 PM) at the Miami Youth Fair and Expo Center Main Gate (10901 SW 24th St, Miami, FL 33165). Lunch will be provided.

- Register for an Animal Ethics Training (Must be complete by January 23rd, 2023)
- Submit a Youth Poultry Show Exhibit Form (Due January 23rd, 2023)
- Download and complete a Poultry Record Book
- Participate in the Agriculture Exhibits at the Fair
- Arrival Date: March 12, 2024, 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at The Barn
- Release Date: April 8, 2024, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at The Barn
