4-H Summer Camps for July

*You do not need to be enrolled in 4-H prior to registering.  All summer camps are daily camps, please ensure that your child can be dropped off and picked up on time.*

Save it for Later: Water Bath Canning Basics

July 18 | 9 am – 12 pm

Come discover the skill of preserving your own foods in this water bath canning class! Youth will learn the basics of food preservation using a water bath and will leave with their own jars of salsa, jam, and pickles. **Youth must be ages 9 to 18 as of September 1, 2023, to participate.

Cooking Under Pressure

July 18 | 2 pm – 5 pm

Come discover the skill of preserving your own foods in this pressure canning class designed for 9- to 18-year-olds. Youth will learn the basics of pressure cooking. We’ll start with an appetizer and work our way to dessert. Hair must be pulled back, or in a cap, and closed-toed shoes are required.  Youth must be 9 to 18 years old as of September 1, 2023, to participate.

Adulting Camp Short Course

July 22 – 26 | 9 am – 1 pm

Come join us to learn about college and career prep, budgeting, credit and banking, developing healthy relationships, effective communication, and living with others.  We’ll put it all together in a fun simulation of a month in the life of a 25-year-old.  Participants will leave camp with an increased knowledge of what it’s like to be an adult and a few goodies to help.  Open to youth ages 15-18. Light snacks will be provided.

ServSafe Food Manager’s Class and Exam

The University of Florida’s Food Safety and Quality Program is dedicated to providing training which enables food managers and staff to offer Florida consumers food that is prepared in a clean and safe environment.

Florida-Friendly Landscaping Certified Professional – Field Module

July 9 | 1 pm – 5 pm

The Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Certified Professional Field Module consists of both classroom and field training, and an exam. The classroom training will review FFL principles and topics covered in the online prerequisite courses.

Backyard Chicken Training Class

July 10 | 10 am – 12 pm

Learn all about raising and caring for chickens in urban environments! This class is taught virtually in partnership with UF/IFAS Extension Orange County.

Mental Health First Aid Training – Adult Course

July 11 | 9 am – 4 pm

Become certified in Mental Health First Aid! This is a skills-based training that teaches people how to identify, understand, and respond to signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use challenge. Like physical First Aid and CPR, MHFA helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis until professional assistance is obtained or the crisis is resolved.

Brevard County Farmers Market

Every Thursday at the Regional Pavilion inside Wickham Park | 3 pm – 6 pm

Join us at the market to discover a variety of homemade food from local businesses! There are many unique products like grass-fed beef, Fresh from Florida produce, spices, honey, jams, coffee, nut butters, microgreens, edible plants, a variety of baked goods and vegan desserts, olive oil, salsas, and more! We also participate in the Fresh Access Bucks (FAB) token program! This program allows SNAP recipients to buy fresh produce and other goodies with their food stamp benefits.
