The UF/IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program in Wakulla County is excited to welcome our new Nutrition Educator, Tammy Boone, to our team. Tammy is a former Pre-K/VPK teacher and program coordinator for Franklin County Schools.

Tammy has family ties to Wakulla County, however. Her daughter is a teacher with the Wakulla School District and her grandchildren attend school in Wakulla.

The Family Nutrition Program is a grant-funded educational program funded through the federal SNAP-Ed program. SNAP stands for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which provides qualifying low-income families and individuals with supplementary funds to help them purchase healthy and nutritious food for themselves and their families. The SNAP-Ed program provides nutrition and wellness education to SNAP recipients and SNAP-eligible audiences. Here in Wakulla County, FNP focuses on educating school-age youth about the importance of healthy eating and physical activity.

Tammy is excited to be working with UF/IFAS Extension Wakulla County and looks forward to working with our local youth. “As a Nutrition Educator, I hope to make a difference in the eating habits of the youth by stressing healthy eating can be fun,” she says.

Please join us in welcoming Tammy to our Wakulla County Extension team! She can be reached at (850) 926-3931.
