Tips & Tools to Help You “Walk Across Wakulla”

On January 11, 2021, the UF/IFAS Extension Service kicked off the first-ever “Walk Across Wakulla” campaign. This campaign is focused on increasing the wellness and physical activity of Wakulla County residents (or anyone else who would like to join).

Walk Across Wakulla challenges participants – youth and adults alike – to walk at least 32 miles “across” Wakulla County, which represents the distance between the Jefferson and Franklin County lines along US Highway 98. You do not have to walk that direct route, of course. You can walk anywhere! Wakulla County is full of beautiful natural spaces that are great for walking. Walk around your neighborhood, along a track, or even on a treadmill.

For every mile walked, youth are encouraged to color in a sneaker. Completed sneakers will be displayed after the challenge at the Wakulla County Extension office in Crawfordville.

There is NO FEE to participate, and we encourage you to recruit friends, family, and coworkers to join. Miles must be logged by March 11, Wakulla County’s birthday.
