Nassau County 4-H County Council Organize a Litter Cleanup

Nassau County’s County Council recently organized and led a volunteering event in Nassau County with Keep Nassau Beautiful. Below is the recent press release that highlights their success and showcases the meaning of, “my hands to larger service”.

Callahan, Florida, May 12, 2022 – The County Council of Nassau County 4-H recently organized a cleanup of Bismark Road near Four Creeks State Forest.  All Nassau County 4-H members were invited to participate and earn service hours.  Members met at the park and broke into teams walking a section of Bismark Road between Peaceful Trail Drive and Pacetti Road.  Keep Nassau Beautiful provided safety vests, grabbers, and reusable bags for litter collection.  Litter was collected in reusable bags and then consolidated into large 45-gallon trash bags to reduce the amount of single-use plastic disposed of during the cleanup.  The event resulted in more than 200 pounds of litter and debris being removed from the roadway.  Many thanks to Nassau County 4-H members for litter removal and Nassau County Road Department for disposal of the trash.
