Our Volunteers Rock: Sharyl Wood

The month of April is Florida 4-H Volunteer appreciation month! We are using this time to thank our non-traditional volunteers that enable us to inspire and educate the youth of Nassau County.

Sharyl Wood is a huge asset to Nassau County 4-H through her dedication to the Youth Leadership Nassau (YLN) program. Sharyl started this program over 14 years ago and has provided high quality education to hundreds of youth over the years. Since partnering with 4-H Sharyl has remained devoted to YLN and making the program as rewarding as possible for the youth involved. Each year, YLN accepts between 25-35 high school students. These students meet monthly from September through March to experience numerous facets of Nassau County including Government, Economic Development, and Quality of Life. Along with a dedicated Steering Committee, Sharyl plans, implements, and evaluates YLN year round. Even during the off months for youth, the committee is hard at work planning for the next year. These dedicated adults ensure that youth are exposed to numerous career opportunities and new experiences in their communities as they develop leadership and interpersonal skills. We are grateful for all of the adult volunteers that assist with YLN each year. We want to thank Sharyl for her leadership and commitment to directing the program and providing a great example for everyone involved. Youth Leadership Nassau would not be possible without her.

Thank you Sharyl for being a fantastic volunteer!
