Living Like a Leader

This week has been very busy for our Leadership and Communications programs. These activities allow youth to have new experiences, meet new people and develop the life skills that prepare them to get jobs – all while having fun!

Read on to catch up on our latest programs…

Club Officer Training

Tuesday, we had Officer Training for our County Council to teach other 4-H’ers how to be better club officers and members.4-H’ers learned about officer roles and responsibilities, how to run a good business meeting, and other opportunities for leadership in 4-H.

Youth Leadership Nassau

On Wednesday, Youth Leadership Nassau had Government Day with presentations from many local officials including the Supervisor of Elections’ office, the County Manager, and representatives from the Nassau County School Board. Youth also had the chance to run for office and serve as the school board members during our mock meeting.

Tropicana Public Speaking

Thursday night, students from across the county showcased their public speaking skills at the county-level Tropicana competition. The first and second place winners of each school’s competition showed off their skills and our two first place finishers (one from middle school and one from elementary school) won a free trip to next summer’s 4-H Camp Cherry Lake!

We are so proud of all of these youth and the growth they’ve shown in leadership and life skills! Great job, Nassau County 4-H’ers!!
