The annual MGV plant sale is a great opportunity for beginner gardeners to start on their horticultural journey! University-trained MGVs will be available to answer plant questions and make recommendations. Experienced gardeners can enjoy the affordably priced plants and unique selection. Some of the plants we’ll have available include: firebush, muhly grass, tomato, salvia, orchids, and wild coffee.

All proceeds from this event support the Manatee County Master Gardener Volunteer Program. Funds will go to the educational gardens, greenhouse, and educational and outreach programs.

The educational gardens are located at our office (1303 17th St W, Palmetto, FL) and feature a pollinator garden, children’s garden, wetlands, herb and vegetable garden, compost demonstration, fruit tree garden, native garden, and greenhouse. The gardens act as a teaching space and are available for free tours. Contact our office to schedule at (941) 722-4524.

The Manatee County Master Gardener Volunteer Program reaches over 7,000 people each year through plant clinics, educational workshops, preserve tours, and speaking engagements. Our MGVs created the Plant-A-Pail program (pictured above) which helps residents in food deserts by teaching them how to grow their own vegetables in pails. Additionally, the MGV children’s committee works with healthcare companies to provide an activity for children in which they create miniature memorial gardens for their lost loved ones. Support our MGV programs by coming out to the plant sale on October 5. 2024mgvplantsale.eventbrite.com
