Insect pollinators love the following plant families:
- Asteraceae (the daisies)
- Fabaceae (the beans)
- Laminaceae (the mints)
- Polygonaceae (the buckwheats)
- Rosaceae (the roses).
Flowers provide food, pollen and nectar, to the insects. Hymenoptera or the ants, wasps, bees, sawflies are the most important pollinators to flowering plants. Many agricultural crops like almonds, apples, avocado, blackberries, cucumber, & eggplants require insect for pollination to give nuts or fruit. When planting your landscape, keep the pollinators in mind!
