Post Hurricane Disaster Resources

Over the last few months Florida has been hit by three different hurricanes, resulting in damage statewide. This article is going to offer some helpful resources for producers and their communities who have been impacted by these storms.

The University of Florida has a page dedicated to local, state, and national resources that can aid in cleanup/recovery, donations, and more linked HERE

Extension through UF has also created a few disaster surveys. These surveys are voluntary and assess the impacts of natural disasters throughout the state. The results from these surveys will be used with other Florida agriculture assessments to estimate loss of production, which will help communicate the losses to local, state, and federal governments. Included are surveys for Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton as they were the most recent with significant damaging impacts.

Multiple Extension faculty wrote an EDIS publication on Disaster Assistance for Agriculture in Florida Following Hurricane Idalia regarding insight on disaster assistance post hurricanes. Even though this article was originally focused on Hurricane Idalia, the information is still applicable and could be useful in the future.

The Florida Cattlemen’s Association (FCA) has created a page linked HERE dedicated to disaster related links. This includes FDOT, UF/IFAS, FDACS, USDA, and more resources that can aid cattle producers during this time. FCA also added that Timeless Fence System is offering a discount on all fencing accessories across seven different states.
