Summer is coming so it is time for many families to make plans, including summer camps. Summer day camps can be an ideal setting to keep kids active, engaged, and learning over the summer. Lake County 4-H is an excellent choice for keeping your children busy through hands-on learning experiences. Below you will find the camps that are offered through the Lake County 4-H program.
Bug Camp; June 7-10
Insects are the most abundant animals on earth! Not only are this creepy crawlies everywhere they also provide many necessary benefits to humans. Discover the thrill of holding a bug while learning how insects play a vital role in nature and how they are important to humans. Through a variety of hands-on activities, youth will learn about entomology careers, and how to identify insects and start their own bug collection.
What’s Cooking? June 20-24
What’s Cooking with Lake County 4-H Day camp is a week-long, hands-on learning opportunity for youth who want to develop and refine their cooking skills. Each day will focus on a different food group and will learn different cooking methods from various recipes. There will be adult supervision with all equipment. On Friday, participants will cook and plan a meal for their families. This camp will help teach kids to select and prepare healthier food options for themselves and their families.
EcoTour; June 27- July 1
Plant Camp focuses on connecting youth with nature. Campers will discover a love of gardening and develop an appreciation for the environment through hands-on learning experiences. Kids will be outside, getting their hands dirty and learning how to plant, pollinate, harvest, and tend to garden during the first half of the week. The second half of the camp will focus on local Lake County ecosystems with youth learning about wildlife, environmental awareness, and a greater appreciation and understanding of the natural world.
