“Our community continues to suffer unprecedented loss by multiple tornadoes that beset us in advance of Hurricane Milton,” said Mark Kistler, director of the UF/IFAS Indian River Research and Education Center. “Along with my colleague Grantly Ricketts, director of the UF/IFAS Extension, St. Lucie County, we have postponed our shared event originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, to a date to be determined after we may heal along with our community.”

Ricketts said he and his team, along with Kistler’s team, are at work to clear debris and repair the damages the UF/IFAS Extension, St. Lucie property, and the UF/IFAS IRREC property sustained from multiple tornadoes.

“We enjoy our work to serve our community with 4-H, horticultural assistance for commercial and homeowners, and consumers,” said Ricketts. “And we look forward to celebrating healing with our community when the time is right.”

When the festival is rescheduled, it will showcase three attractions: the UF/IFAS Extension, St. Lucie County, 8400 Picos Road; the UF/IFAS Indian River Research and Education Center, 2199 South Rock Road; and the UF/IFAS Aquaculture Demonstration Facility, at 5800 Picos Road, each within a mile loop on Rock and Picos roads.
