From frustrated yard to Florida-Friendly Landscaping™: a free 10-part webinar series for Hillsborough County residents

This Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Hillsborough County webinar series is a free, 10-part, live Zoom series designed to help residents, HOA board members, and community managers create attractive, low-maintenance yards that protect Florida’s water and wildlife.

Each session focuses on a different Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ principle, with clear, practical tips you can apply right away in your own landscape or community. Participants will hear UF/IFAS science-based guidance, see real-world examples, and have a chance to ask questions during live Q&A.

If you’re tired of wasting water, fighting weeds, and arguing over what plants are ‘allowed,’ this series is for you

The series runs on the third Thursday of each month from February through November 2026, from 10–11 a.m. Eastern Time. Each webinar has its own registration link, and you can sign up for one, several, or all ten sessions depending on your interests and schedule.

What You Will Learn:

Topics will cover all Nine Principles of Florida-Friendly Landscaping™, starting with an introduction to the full set, then diving into practical how-tos like picking the right plant for your soil, sun, and HOA rules; watering efficiently to cut bills without stressing your yard; fertilizing appropriately to nourish plants while protecting our bays and rivers; and more strategies for low-maintenance beauty. These sessions build on each other to help you reduce yard work, save water, and avoid pollution runoff.

Whether you’re new to Florida, leading a community association, or just ready to upgrade your landscape, this one-hour-a-month series makes it simple to gain confidence and create a truly Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ home or neighborhood.
