Dr. Scott Angle, UF’s Provost and former Senior Vice President of UF/IFAS, is generously matching all gifts dollar for dollar to the IFAS CALS Student Enrichment Fund for VP Promise, up to $10,000 total! This fund provides crucial financial assistance to undergraduate students pursuing immersive experiences in agriculture, life sciences, and natural resources. The VP Promise is Dr. Angle’s personal commitment to enrich the CALS student experience.
An anonymous supporter of the Department of Entomology and Nematology is also matching gifts dollar for dollar, up to $10,000, to the Entomology and Nematology Graduate Student Opportunity Endowment, a new opportunity to provide travel, research, and professional development grants for graduate students.
Paul and Shari Willis are challenging 36 donors to join them in supporting the CALS Ambassadors to unlock a gift of $2,5000 to the Willis Endowment for CALS Ambassadors. An additional 36 donors will unlock their second $2,500 gift! Paul Willis began the CALS Ambassadors program in the 90’s. In 2006, Paul and Shari Willis started the CALS Ambassadors Endowment to support the program, student scholarship awards and student activities in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Their support has impacted hundreds of students over the years and engaged thousands of prospective CALS Gators!
Dave and Kristen Hall are matching gifts to the Tyler “Tyce” Hall Trail for Austin Cary Forest in memory of their son, Tyler Hall, up to $5,000 total. Tyler was a forest resources and conservation student and loved the University of Florida. Since his passing, his parents have honored his life and love for UF in many ways, including the Tyler “Tyce” Hall Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Tyler “Tyce” Hall Trail at Austin Cary Forest.
Since 2021, Dana Eller has partnered with the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering to match Giving Day gifts to the ABE Teaching Building – Eller Fund. This year, he is matching all gifts to the fund up to $5,000 total! The Eller Family is filled with Gators – Dana graduated in May 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in ABE.
The Florida Master Gardener Volunteer Legacy Endowment funds annual awards to support new and continuing educational projects led by county Florida Master Gardener Volunteer groups in local communities across the state. Since 2018, seven counties have received awards for their exceptional projects. An anonymous donor is matching all gifts to the fund , up to $5,000 total.
Dr. Maia McGuire is matching gifts dollar for dollar made to the Karl Havens Memorial Endowment for Florida Sea Grant, up to $5,000 total. Dr. McGuire has been Florida Sea Grant’s associate director for Extension and education and UF/IFAS’s associate program leader for marine and coastal Extension since 2020. This endowment honors Karl E. Havens, former director of the Florida Sea Grant Program, who passed unexpectedly in 2019.
Pam & Russell Hyatt of Hyatt Survey are matching gifts dollar for dollar up to $3,000 to Dr. David Gibson Endowment for Geomatics. Pam and Russel have been longtime supporters of the UF/IFAS School of Forest, Fisheries and Geomatics Sciences and are both geomatics alumni!
Mr. Jimmy and Ms. Benita Boyd are matching gifts to Extension Undergrad Internships up to $3,000 total. A collaboration between UF/IFAS Extension and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, students develop professional skillsets and explore career opportunities in Extension working alongside county Extension professionals. The Boyd’s have supported Extension interns through Giving Day challenge gifts since 2020!
For Florida 4-H Camps Cherry Lake, Cloverleaf and Timpoochee, Dr. Marilyn Norman will match all gifts up to $1,000 each. An additional $500 will be unlocked for the Camp with the most gifts received! Dr. Norman is a retired Florida 4-H State Program Leader and has been a loyal champion for 4-H providing Giving Day matching gifts since 2020.
Dr. John Davis, Associate Dean for Research and Associate Director of the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station, and Dr. Robert Gilbert, UF/IFAS Interim Senior Vice President, are matching all gifts dollar for dollar made to Path to Pioneers Research Internship Program, up to $2,000 total. Path to Pioneers supports a research internship program for undergraduate students. Every summer, interns work on projects located in Gainesville and at UF/IFAS research and education stations across Florida.
The Langdale Company is matching all gifts to Florida Project Learning Tree up to $2,000 total to provide more opportunities to connect Florida students with the outdoors! Barbara Boler of The Langdale Company serves on the Florida PLT Steering Committee and has supported PLT through Giving Day matching gifts since 2022!
