Imagine you are working on a manuscript that you want posted to Ask IFAS.
You may want to include images so you can better illustrate your points, or so you can break up the text in the finished HTML and PDF versions of your publication.
Proper image selection doesn’t need to be complicated and overwhelming.
UF/IFAS has a photo database where you can log in with your GatorLink credentials and download images for use in your Ask IFAS publication. Remember to include the corresponding photo captions, alt text, and photo credits in your manuscript.
You can also use a photo you have taken. For the photo credits, list your name, followed by “UF/IFAS.”
If the first two options do not yield a suitable image, you can try Adobe Stock. Do not sign up for a commercial account. Instead, log in with your GatorLink credentials and use the following credits for the image you select: “© [photographer] / Adobe Stock.”
If it is necessary to use an image from another outside source, review the source’s information on image licensing, obtain written permission from the copyright holder, submit the permission file and attribution through the authoring tool assets for the document, and include the appropriate image credit.
Whichever type of image you use, remember to include the appropriate image caption, alt text, and image credits.
