Fair is Over, Now What?

All your hard work has paid off! You have successfully exhibited at the county fair, and most have sold their 4-H project in preparation to do it all over again next year. Although the fair is over, 4-H still has plenty of opportunities available at the local and state level!

Elevate your 4-H involvement and participate in one or more the upcoming 4-H Events and Activities.

4-H County Events

4-H County Events is an annual competitive event held in our county. County Events are broken into 5 categories and youth can participate in one or all five!

The categories include:
Photography
Illustrated Talks & Demonstration
Public Speaking
Graphic Design
Share-the-Fun

All 4-H members are encouraged to participate in 4-H County Events!

4-H Awards and Recognition

Want to earn pins and be recognized for your hard work in 4-H?

Complete the 4-H Awards and Recognition Application and attach it to your fair/project record book and turn it into the DeSoto County Extension Office anytime between now and May 9th.

 Summary and turned in your record book,

4-H Day at the Capitol

All 4-H members are encouraged to attend 4-H Day at the Capitol on March 25, 2025. Help flood the Florida State Capitol Green and bring awareness to the importance of 4-H Youth Development Programs!

4-H Camps

4-H Camp Cloverleaf hosts a summer full of day camps and overnight camping opportunities. Registration is open now and any youth can attend camp, even if they are not in 4-H yet.

4-H Leadership Events

Did you know that 4-H offers Leadership Development Events at both the University of Florida (UF) and Florida State University (FSU)? While attending, you even get the feel of what it is like to be a college student and stay in college dorms!

Intermediate 4-H members are encouraged to attend iLEAD at the University of Florida. ILEAD is an Intermediate Leadership Conference where youth will have the opportunity to connect with others and explore potential interests which create a spark in their life!

Senior 4-H members can attend 4-H Legislature (4-H LEG). 4-H LEG is held in the Florida State Capitol and attendees get to stay in FSU dorms while participating in a Mock Legislative Session throughout the week.

Senior 4-H members are also eligible to attend 4-H University (4HU) at the University of Florida. 4HU is a mixture of leadership development workshops and the state level 4-H Competitive Events… it’s the “State Convention” of Florida 4-H!
