SHORT DESCRIPTION SUMMARIZING POSITION
Full-time, 100% 12-month appointment. Primary responsibilities will include teaching, advising, interacting with undergraduate students, and working as a liaison to the dairy extension and applied research programs. Initial appointments are typically at the rank of Instructor, Lecturer, Teaching Assistant Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor. Senior level appointment to Sr. Instructor/Lecturer or Teaching/Clinical Associate Professor or Teaching/Clinical Professor may be available for candidates with significant additional experience and stature. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will play a prominent role in teaching core courses within the dairy science focus of the department; teaching responsibilities will include coaching the dairy cattle judging team and co-coaching the Dairy Challenge team. Additionally, this position will provide leadership to the Illini Dairy Club and engage with the Dairy Focus Team.  The incumbent will be expected to design and implement an outreach program to dairy producers in the State of Illinois including informational sessions, training programs, demonstrations, on-farm evaluations and workshops, and applied research. This position will assist in serving as technical advisor to the Illinois Milk Producers Association (IMPA) and technical board of the 4-State Dairy Nutrition and Management group in collaboration with current faculty. The appointee will be an integral member of the Dairy Science program and be expected to collaborate as part of the dairy science faculty in fulfilling the missions of teaching, research and extension in collaboration with ACES faculty and extension personnel. As such, the successful applicant may be asked to assume additional related responsibilities to enhance the mission of the department.

LOCATION:  The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (www.illinois.edu) is located approximately 120 miles south of Chicago in a metropolitan area of approximately 232,000 people.

RESOURCES:  The campus is home to internationally recognized facilities and interdisciplinary programs including the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology (www.igb.illinois.edu), Beckman Institute (www.beckman.illinois.edu), W.M. Keck Center for Comparative and Functional Genomics (www.biotech.illinois.edu/centers), Carle Illinois College of Medicine (www.medicine.illinois.edu), Cancer Center at Illinois (www.cancer.illinois.edu), and National Center for Supercomputing Applications (www.ncsa.illinois.edu).
