Have You Herd how to Spend a Day as an Animal Sciences Student?

Do you want to know what it would be like to spend a day as a University of Florida College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Animal Sciences student? This is your chance! Through the Have You Herd program, you will be individually paired with a current UF CALS Animal Sciences student for a day. You will attend their classes and have the option to stay for a club meeting or even practice with the livestock, horse, or meat judging teams.

In the Have You Herd application, you will submit a 3-4 minute video of yourself describing your background and interest areas. Tell us about your activities or events you have been involved in through high school, for example, 4-H, FFA, Junior Breed Association, community service activities, etc.  In the video, we will ask you to include your career interests in Animal Sciences. If you do not know yet, that is okay too! Tell us what subjects or animal sciences disciplines you enjoy learning about (nutrition, reproduction, genetics, etc.) We also want to hear what you would be interested in seeing on a day in the life of an Animal Sciences student.  Lunch will be provided for you and one guardian, as well as some fun Animal Sciences gear!

Teachers and 4-H Club leaders are also encouraged to nominate students who they believe would benefit from learning more about the Animal Sciences department. An additional resource for all College of Agricultural and Life Sciences prospective students, including those students interested in animal sciences, is NaviGATORing CALS.

Requirements:
1. Applicant must be a current high school student or graduated from high school within the past year.
2. A guardian must be present but will not be allowed to attend classes.
3. Have an interest in or career goals related to the field of Animal Sciences.

Deadline to submit: September 1st, 2022
