Description: Lacerta Therapeutics is a clinical stage gene therapy company using a constellation of proprietary adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector technologies to develop treatments for central nervous system and lysosomal storage diseases.

The Intern will assist with animal work (mice/rats) on various projects and tasks to gain experience in the field of animal research and development. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Animal Husbandry  
    • General checks and weight checks
    • Breeding 
    • Weaning 
    • Genotyping 
  • Assisting with animal procedures
    • Behavior Studies 
    • Handling
    • Harvesting 
    • Surgery 
  • Processing animal tissue 
    • Running PCR and gels, western blots, extracting DNA 
    • Preparing and staining slides 
    • Inventory management of tissues and slides

The intern may also be asked to help around the lab with other projects, including molecular biology, but animal work will take precedence. 

What we’re looking for in our intern:
• Ability to work independently 
• Commit to at least 5 hours a week 
• Willingness to handle mice and tissues (training will be provided) 
• Major in or desire to be in a science or medical related field
