University of Vermont Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences Hiring Master of Science Graduate Position

Highly motivated and enthusiastic applicants are invited to apply for a Master of Science position in the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at The University of Vermont. 

The stipend and research associated with this position are supported by Purina Animal Nutrition LLC., and the successful candidate will complete his or her program at the University of Vermont (Burlington, VT) in the laboratories of Drs. Sabrina Greenwood and Jana Kraft. The successful applicant will be involved in a collaborative program using in vitro continuous culture fermenters to examine the impact of dietary manipulations on rumen function and ecology. 

Qualifications: 
  • Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in animal science, microbiology, biology or related field, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. 
  • For admittance, GRE test scores should be above 300 (combined scores), and a minimum TOEFL score of 100 is required (for applicants whose native language is not English).

Preferred Skills: 

  • A working knowledge of animal nutrition, and at minimum basic knowledge of rumen microbial fermentation dynamics. 
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
