The University of North Florida is seeking applicants for its Jacksonville Teacher Residency Teacher Preparation & GraduateProgram. Jacksonville Teacher Residency (JTR) is a teacher preparation and graduate program that trains STEM graduates to become secondary math or science teachers in Jacksonville’s urban schools.

Qualifications to Apply for Cohort 5 (2018-19):

  • A degree in a STEM field (conferred no later than May 30, 2018) with a 3.0 GPA in last 60 hours of coursework 
  • Meet the minimum GRE scores, as follows: Writing – 4; Verbal – 151; Quantitative – 147 
  • Desire to learn how to teach math or science and work with underserved students 

Benefits:

  • Designation as a NSF NOYCE Teaching Fellow 
  • A yearlong teaching apprenticeship with a veteran teacher in one of Duval’s high-needs schools 
  • $20,000 Teaching Fellowship disbursed during apprenticeship year (2018-19) 
  • A Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the University of North Florida 
  • Cohort-model learning and support community 
  • Job placement support in a Duval County high-needs school after apprenticeship 
  • Induction support during first four years as teacher of record 
  • A salary supplement of $10,000/year during first four years of teaching in Duval County
