Land O’Lakes is currently seeking applications for their 2018 Global Food Challenge program, which is open exclusively to students graduating in 2020.
The year-long fellowship program is open to up to 12 students from the Class of 2020. It includes a stipend for work assignments completed from January – May 2018 as well as an 11-week paid summer internship lasting from May – August 2018.
The Global Food Challenge program is designed for students to gain experiences outside the classroom, including:
- All-expense-paid trips to Land O’Lakes headquarters, Land O’Lakes member cooperative, Washington, D.C., an international location, and the Global Food Challenge Summit
- “Challenge” assignments throughout the year and a team project centered around solving real-world agricultural issues
- Broad exposure to agribusiness, including the Land O’Lakes organization and its leadership team
- Invaluable career development and leadership opportunities
- Receiving both technical and leadership training to enhance your skill-sets
- Work with cross-functional teams to evaluate and drive performance improvements
- Study abroad experience
- Exploration to a variety of careers in agriculture
- Networking opportunities
- Media training
- Participation in a number of special events between December 2017 and August 2018
- Serving as an ambassador for the agriculture and the food industries
Eligibility Requirements:
- Expected graduation date of May 2020 or December 2020.
- Current students from the following universities and colleges are eligible to apply: Alabama A&M, Iowa State University, Kansas State University, Northwestern University, North Carolina A&T, Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, The George Washington University, the University of Florida, the University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin-Madison.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Demonstrated involvement and leadership in campus organizations, clubs or student government included in resume.
- Must be available for 11-week Summer Experience May – August 2018.
- Must be able to obtain a passport for travel to and within international destinations (location TBD; most likely an African or Middle Eastern nation)
- Must be physically capable of international travel to and short-term residence within emerging and/or underdeveloped countries, possibly without access to modern amenities of daily life and exposure to extreme weather conditions. Must also be capable of participating in service work including physical labor.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Must be able to effectively communicate to groups of various sizes, ages and opinions.
- Must have a strong drive to work hard and be open to new learning opportunities.
- Must have a strong desire to work in a fast-paced industry and make a difference.
- Submit videos, assignments and other requested materials at deadlines.
