4-H Outdoor Recreation Camp

The week of June 16 – 20, 2014 was our annual Wildlife Camp. Campers from Leon and Jefferson Counties participated in a week long day camp. There were sessions on Forestry, Conservation, Wildlife, and Shooting Sports (Archery, Air Rifles and Shotgun) Monday thru Wednesday. On Thursday campers traveled over to Piney Z Plantation to enjoy a day at Lake Lafayette Heritage Park for sessions in Fishing, Aquatic Science, and Canoeing. Friday campers were back at the Jefferson County Extension Office enjoying contests in Archery, Air Rifle, Shotgun and Casting in the morning. For Lunch there was a cookout with hamburgers and hotdogs. In the afternoon there were sessions on Altalt, Flint-knapping, Skins, Skulls, Pottery, and Weaving. Awards and Sno Cones finished off the camp. The camp had a total of 39 campers with 13 Teen Leaders. There were 31 Agents, Presenters and Leaders involved in the program planning and implementation.
