March Means National Nutrition Month® 2017

Each year, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics promotes nutrition throughout the month of March. This year, the theme is “put your best fork forward” and there’s a few key messages to keep in mind.

  1. Choose a variety of foods that are healthful and that you enjoy.
  2. Prepare more meals at home and test out healthier ingredients.
  3. Eat and drink in just the right portions. Use MyPlate as your guide (www.choosemyplate.gov)
  4. Attain or maintain a healthy weight. Find a Registered Dietitian or health professional to help you reach your goals.

These key messages remind us that every food choice we make matters. It’s not as important what you eat meal to meal, but rather, how you eat over time. Consistency is more important than individual choices. Small changes, one bite at a time, add up to big changes.

Put your best fork forward and make the small changes that can impact your eating style and perspective on food and nutrition.
