Pasture leasing is an annual expense that needs to be factored into annual budgets.  The national average cash rent pasture rates in 2017 are $12.50/acre, which is a decrease of $0.50/acre in comparison of rates in 2016 (US Department of Agriculture).

How does the national average compare with Florida prices?

Of the 34 counties that reported, the average pasture rent cash price was $19.74 in Florida.  Collier county was the least expensive, reporting $6/acre, while Okaloosa county was the most expensive, reporting $40.00/acre.

How does the Florida pasture lease price compare to the cropland lease price?

29 Florida counties reported an average cropland lease price of $39.47/acre.  This is $19.73/acre more than the average pasture lease cost in Florida.  Of the 16 counties that reported both pasture and cropland lease costs, cropland leases were an average of $18.88/acre higher compared to pasture leases.
