The Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association contributes to TREC’s research
The photo shows Mr. Barney Rutzke, Jr., President of the Miami Dade Chapter of the Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA),
presenting a check to Dr. Edward ‘Gilly’ Evans, Interim Director of UF/IFAS Tropical Research and Education Center (TREC). Mr. Rutzke said he was extremely pleased to make the donation on behalf of the FNGLA in support of the research conducted at TREC. He also noted that the nursery industry in Miami-Dade County, which is the largest in Florida and second largest in the United States, is facing major challenges brought about as a result of increased pests and diseases and a shortage of labor. Dr. Evans thanked Mr.Rutzke for his generous contribution and reiterated TREC’s firm commitment to conduct research aimed at supporting the growers and enabling them to remain productive and profitable.
