Calling all interested Master Gardener Volunteers, Master Naturalists and interested members of the public! We need your help with the upcoming UF Extension Butterflies and Wildflowers Bioblitz in St. Lucie County.
Do you want to learn about local butterflies and wildflowers? This might be the perfect opportunity. The UF/IFAS Extension St Lucie County will be conducting a “UF Extension Butterflies and Wildflowers Bioblitz” on September 14, 2023, 2023 from 8:30 AM – 11 AM. This event will be hosted by UF/IFAS Natural Resources Extension Agent Ken Gioeli and Urban Horticulture Extension Agent Kate Rotindo.
During this bioblitz event, participants will use iNaturalist to catalog the butterflies and wildflowers on site. We will venture out on the trails at Steven J. Fousek Preserve to observe and learn about native butterflies and wildflowers in the preserve. Participants will be asked to install the iNaturalist app on their phone prior to meeting up on September 14, 2023 and join the project “UF Extension Butterflies and Wildflowers Bioblitz.” The Steven J. Fousek Preserve is located at 7793 State Hwy 613, Port St. Lucie, FL 34987. Extension programs are open to all persons without regard to race, color, sexual orientation, sex, age, disability, religion, or national origin. People seeking accommodation can make requests two weeks prior to start of the event.
Participants should wear appropriate field attire. Closed toe shoes, hiking boots, long pants, hat, sunscreen and water are recommended. Personal cellphone are required. Registration is required. This program registration fee is $5. For additional information, email Ken Gioeli firstname.lastname@example.org or Kate Rotindo email@example.com.
