Florida Master Naturalists are Bioblitzing!

About iNaturalist

iNaturalist is a powerful geomatics application that empowers users to make observations that can contribute to biodiversity science, from the rarest butterfly to the most common backyard weed.  We have been using iNaturalist to do some bioblitzing in our hybrid Florida Master Naturalist training programs.  Florida Master Naturalists are bioblitzing and you can too.

Observers and Identifiers

So what can you do to contribute and help the Florida Master Naturalists who are bioblitzing? There are roles for observers and identifiers.  Observers are those people who want to contribute qualifying photos and audio clips to an iNaturalist project.  Identifiers can be anywhere in the world who view project observations and agree with ID or suggest alternate ID.

Master Naturalist Habitat Evaluation Course Bioblitzes

Here are some of the bioblitz projects undertaken during our June-July 2023 Florida Master Naturalist Habitat Evaluation course.  This course was conducted June – July 2023. UF Master Naturalist instructors are Ken Gioeli, Andrea Lazzari, and Dr. Lisa Krimsky.  Special thanks to Dr. Corey Callaghan, UF/IFAS Assistant Professor at the Ft Lauderdale Research and Education Center, for all his advice as we worked through these bioblitzes.
