Thanks to generous donations from the community, the St. Lucie County Library System now has Bird Watching Backpacks available for public use.  These backpacks include binoculars (used but in great shape), lens cleaning kits, and Florida bird checklists.  The library generously contributed Peterson’s Field Guide to Birds for the Bird Watching Backpacks.  Users can also bioblitz their bird sightings along the downtown Fort Pierce Waterfront by reporting observations on iNaturalist HERE.  Personal cellphones will be needed to bioblitz these observations.

These backpacks are available for Library patron’s use through their check out system.  You can now find information about the birding kits in their card catalog HERE.  This project was developed in collaboration with the UF/IFAS Extension St. Lucie County, St. Lucie County Library System, St. Lucie County Audubon, and Ecological Associates Inc.
